About
Tactical Win is a small, independent index of hotels. It covers four kinds of property: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels.
The categories are narrow on purpose. Each one describes a way a hotel can be built or run that changes the stay itself, whether that is a floor designed by an architect, a berth instead of a room, a resort with a theatre and a gaming floor, or a building made of river ice.
How the index is written
Entries are short and written in plain prose. They say where a hotel is, what makes it belong in its category and what a guest can expect to find there.
We avoid ratings, scores and rankings. A number tells you little about whether a hotel suits your trip, and we would rather describe it fairly and let you decide.
What we do not do
We do not take bookings or handle payments. We do not publish guest reviews, and hotels cannot pay to appear. When you are ready to stay somewhere, contact the hotel directly or use a booking service of your choice.
Keeping it accurate
Hotels renovate, rebrand and occasionally close. We revise entries when we learn that something has changed. If you spot a detail that is out of date, the contact page explains how to tell us.
